MG MGA - Gear interchange

Will the ring and pinion gears from a later MGB interchange with those from an MGA? If not, is the entire Salisbury MGB rear axle a bolt in for the MGA? I searched, but came up empty.

Thanks

Kemper, if you go back in the archives and look again you will find some info on this. I've looked into it myself and found the archives helpful. The answer to your first question is no, and the answer to your second question is "sort of". From what I've read, it's not a problem to bolt the entire rear axle to the car, but you will have to re-engineer the handbrake cable setup. Also I believe that there is a difference in width regarding the wire wheel vs. steel wheel axles. Again, I didn't do this myself, but read about it and opted not to do it.
