MG MGA - Got my Judson - Help!

Hi Everyone
I'm a happy man now that I have got a belovered Judson for my 1600 Mk1. Not for hooning sake, but for motoring posperity! However, it came without instructions and I have no previous experience with superchargers. Is there anyone out there who could point me in the right direction, please. I have read that a George Fuchi is the "expert" on these matters. Where may I get his email address from?
Thanks in advance
David Godwin

David,

Dominic Clancy should be able to point you in the right direction. I assume that he will reply on the BBS as soon as the sun moves over to Switzerland.

Thanks Mick, Do you know of anyone who runs a Judson on a MGA near the Gold Coast or close enough for me to visit?
David Godwin

David,

I am a bit far from the Gold Coast.
Are you a member of the Gold Coast MG Car club? You should speak to them. There are phone numbers and email addresses on their website.

David,

The link I gave probably will not work, but ths one should:

http://www.vwjudsonregister.org.uk

If you go to the "Buy and sell" page it gives the email address for George Folchi, also his price list and other details.
There is also interesting information on the Judson unit, including an old advertisment for a Judson on an MGA.
There is also some technical information with component photos.
Also someone sells the Judson logo windscreen sticker etc... etc...

I suppose I could dig out the installation instructions and post them, if that would help......

Sun's up!

I've also mailed David offline. I have a set of good clear instructions, plus a rare manual for the carb.

George is slow to answer mails, but does beautiful work.

Also a great source of wisdom is Carl Heidemann at Eclectic.

There are other things that are advisable for a Judson it seems, like a properly profiled distributor, and some also advise a Knock control computer like the J&S Safeguard (I'm just selling a load of stuff on ebay to fund this... anyone need a rear cockpit rail or a set of vernier timing gears?)

I recently purchased a Judson for my 62 MGA Mk II. It was refurbished George Folchi in 2003, and only had a couple hundred miles on it. It came to me in good shape with George's notes and installation instructions. I recommend sending it off to him for a rebuild if you don't know the history.

Address from 3/18/2003 letter in the docs I have:

Thanks to you all! I have now found heaps on the Judson and will continue to follow the leads. The version I have is the "original" type with glass oiler with wire bracket, but the bracket is missing. Also, the tappet cover is not part of the supercharger. If there is anyone out there who would like to consider swopping mine for a later model (My MGA Mk 1 is one of the last made - No100201 of 100351 I think)Please contact me on murphgod@hotmail.com. Thanks again for all the help.
Cheers, Dave

I have always been puzzled that non-members can post messages, especially stupid ones (messages and people).
Maybe the Webmaster needs to change the system. I know that fools could still apply for membership, but most would not make the effort.

John Moxon (who runs teh VW site) has now posted my scan of the instructions for an MGA Judson on the install section of the site. It's a pity we don't have a section for MGA stuff here or on Google groups etc.
