One of our members on this site, Mike Moore I think his name is, is the expert on this. I have the same issue and tried to get some ice blue material. Seems it's unobtainable in the exact match. However, Mike will no doubt inform you of his chasing around this one.

On my car, glacier blue twin cam, the trimmer settled for light grey! But it does look good.

Hi this is probably no help but I do seem to remember on one of the forums,it might have been this one, going back to about 2007/8 that someone had found a supplier who had a roll of the correct, old stock, ice blue material

I was able to match the "Ice Blue" colour and for a trial I sprayed the vinyl with SEM Color Coat. Colour was "bang on" , the vinyl of the old top was just to old to get a really good adhesion. (even with many cleanings with TSP). It pulled itself off after being folded. I found out later that a release agent, such as "Pledge" wax would have kept that from happening.

I sent colour sample to one of the members here and I know he had some fabric made up. I will look up his name (Brain Fart keeps me from remembering just at the moment). I will post it on this board.

I tried to locate Ice Blue material when I restored my MGA. I found a company in Britain what would make it but their minimum order would be enough to outfit over a dozen cars and would have cost several thousand pounds. I could only locate 2 of 3 other people who were interested in pursuing it, so the matter dropped.

I had also heard about "paint-on" color for top material, but I was warned that it was typically only used for car shows, and would quickly flake off in real world conditions. I eventually located a NOS Ice Blue tonneau cover (aftermarket) just by sheer dumb luck. There's a picture of it here:

The framing device of Leonard Nimoy's "In Search Of" program shows how long ago this search was. That show hasn't been on the air in at least a dozen years. BTW, if anyone else wants to try to put together enough people to pay for a run of the material, count me in.

I'm delighted to see this topic.

I too chased the Ice Blue vinyl for a hood for my Iris Blue MGA. Over three years I searched through many UK and US trim suppliers without finding any. The last known source was Martim, which told me they had a roll several years ago, perhaps about 2010, but it was cleared out and is no longer in their stock. Perhaps there is a roll out it out there somewhere. I did not exhaust sources in Australia.

Also, I located a pair of original side screens in Ice Blue and purchased them. They are now beyond use and need restored because the front window panes are out, but the vinyl and its original color is not bad for its age and the color is there to be seen. The color rendition seems quite decent in some places. Since I've sold that car, and now have another, I'll consider parting with these side screens for restoration by someone who would like the Ice Blue fabric as a guide.

If you are interested in the side screens, please send me an email at may address below.
