MG MGA - MGA Oval badges - Where to Purchase these?

Afternoon Gents,

Where are people purchasing new one's of these recently?

Part No AHH5294 is incredibly cheap from Moss but I passed them back over the counter.

Perhaps someone has some exceptionally good original one's they want to part with?

Thanks in advance.
Mark

Do you mean the engine vents on the front bonnet shroud? The old original ones are usually well corroded by now - I have a couple in my spares box that look rather "spotty" as the alloy bubbles through the chrome plating. I have fitted a couple of Moss repro ones - in use at the moment - they look and fit OK.cheers Cam

I recently received a pair of these as a gift. They came from Moss Motors in Summer of '08. They have too much bow lengthwise end to end, so they sit on the ends and rock back and forth in the middle. I have not bothered to return them, since they were a gift (and the car runs regardless). I reinstalled the good ones I bought from Moss in 1986.

Mark,
The old ones are better looking than the new ones - the shape of the bar ends. But rechroming original ones is very expensive when compared to buying new ones. You takes your choice .....

I have neither so need to purchase some.

Anyone know where I can buy some old stock original ones?

Many Thanks

Should be there on the shelf right next to the twin cam engine bits! I'll take at least one pair!

Reading through Clausager the old style with the straight bars are extremely rare and broke easily. They were replaced by the company on later 1500s onwards with the reinforcing gussets at the end of the bars. I think you will be lucky to find early original NOS. You might be more lucky with the later version.

Hi Steve,

Yes I'm looking for a set for a 1958 car, so I guess these are the later type.

Cheers

I bought a pair from Brown & Gammons 14 years ago and they were fine. you might want to try them.

Many years ago, before there were any decent repro parts my then partner supplied Scarborough Faire with NOS ones to make tooling for good repros. They came out just as the originals. I would expect that they are still supplying those.
