MG MGA - MGB tach

I have a 5 main B engine in my A and I have the 67 tach installed in the dash. How do I wire it up so it works?
GK George

First - is the tach the right polarity for your car? It will say positive or negative ground on the face plate.
Assuming you have a negative ground car, and the tach is neg ground, then you need a wire from the +ve side of the coil to the loop on the back and then on to the ignition (ie the other side of the loop). You also need a green wire to the spade terminal on the back of the unit, and of course ground through the bracket, or on a black wire to the bracket.
If you tach does not match the polarity of the car, you will have to convert it. This is detailed on www.mgaguru.com.
Peter.
P.S. I take no responsibility for the above information. Check out '67 MGB wiring diagram to confirm yourself.
