MG MGA - moss SS performance exhaust ??

Me again on exhaust topic sorry....., But has anyone bought or had any experiance of the moss stainless steel "perfomance exhaust syatem" Im on the verge of buying one and if it sounds awfull Im going to be stuck with it a long time I would welcome any comments, or even advise on an alternative, thank you, Vin.

Vin,
I don't have any current info, but a few years back a friend owned a 74 MGB with a SS exhaust system most likely supplied from Moss. I rode in it once and found the exhasust noise/note had a resonance that bothered my ears. I figure the original steel exhaust system has a different vibration wave/pitch than a ss system.
My MGA has the orignal system or at least it sure looks that way, with only a few miles left on it before I will need to replace. I am curious of the comments that will come in on this thread.

I have the stainless exhaust sold by Moss on my 62 MK11. If any thing it is a little quiet for my tastes. It is not "harsh" at all. I have a second one on the 58 coupe that is too close to being done for me to ignore, but alas I do.

I've been running the Falcon SS exhaust on my MGA since restoration in 1986 (230,000 miles now). It has a straight through glass pack muffler. The sound is nice and mellow when new, will allow you to chat with friend or listen to the radio (until wind noise takes over).

It will never rust out, but I manage to blow the fiberglass stuffing out of the muffler in about 40,000 miles, after which the empty can is very loud and raspy and irritating. Dividing 230,000 by 40,000 it figures I have replaced or repacked the muffler 4 or 5 times by now. Repacking didn't last long; it needs to be packed real tight. If you expect to drive hard (and who doesn't) or lots of miles, maybe glass packs are not such a good idea.

On a related note, original factory issue mufflers were glass packs. This detail was recently disclosed with a copy of "engineering Technical Data, mga twin cam" which goes as far as defining the hole pattern on the inner straight through pipe. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/books/tdb/tdtc_g_silencer.pdf

So if you want originality and original sound, you need a straight through glass pack muffler. I don't know who might make a baffled muffler, but maybe the only reason for wanting one would be longevity (or cheap).
