MG MGA - New HS6 carbs stiff etc.

A few years ago I purchased a new set of HS6 carbs, and these have now gone on my new Coupe restoration...which has an 18V 1950cc fast road engine from Oselli. The carb linkage movement appears very strong, leading to the accelerator cable binding at the pedal end...even twisting the pedal assembly slightly. It's not the cable, as when disconnecting the cable at the carb end, the pedal/cable are very smooth. So it's just the linkage. There are three return springs on these carbs, and also the standard springs on the spindles. I've released the two side return springs to see if that helps, but no difference.

The result of this problem is the accelerator is very jerky, and the situation seems to get worse as the engine bay/carbs get hotter.

Can anyone offer advice please?

Just heard from SU Carbs in UK, and they are looking at the problem. I've found out that HS6's made in recent years have inbuilt springs that will avoid the necessity of using 3 separate return springs.
