MG MGA - OEW MGA near Winchester

Passed an OEW MGA going the other way on the outskirts of Winchester late this afternoon. Nice ripping exhaust. Anyone from this BBS? I was in the BRG MGA heading north.

Hi Steve,
Not me. I was too busy restoring the passeger door of the push rod car. Did you get my mail about U3A?

Yes, been in Italy for a while. Only got back a day or two ago. Will get back to you off post.

Lovely drive back yesterday from family in Southampton. Had to forgo the Beaulieu Spring Autojumble! Came up the A33/A30 Winchester to Hook. Hardly saw a car, they were all on the adjacent M3. Reminiscent of 1960s motoring!

First run out since rebuilding the MC after my brake and clutch saga. Absolutely perfect. engine temp struggled to get up to 175 despite the warm/hot day.

Steve..."warm/hot day"...what was it, 18C?

About 23. Very warm for this time of the year in the UK, but nothing compared to your temps.

Steve, was rather hoping that next year was the "good" UK summer, as they always seem to alternate. Reason being if you don't know, there at at least 16 MGA's coming from Oz for the MGA Register Lands End to John O'Groats run in August 2015.

Sounds fun. Might tag on the end! I did a Lands End to John O'Groats in my old MGTC back in December 1996 on the LeJog rally. Now that was a test weather-wise. Average temperature was 0 centigrade, sliding down icy roads in Wales at midnight. We started on a Saturday morning and finished at dawn on the Tuesday. Hood down all the way and no heater in that car! Bit knackered at the end. I presume you will all be going at a more leisurely pace?

Scotland may be independent by then so it will probably be wet and windy north of the border!

Picture of the TC at John O'Groats attached.

What were you doing out there Steve? You should have been down here with 100+ other MGs for Solent's MGs in the Park - what a fabulous day too. Pic attached...

Sod's law that the one weekend that there is Beaulieu and an MG gathering I was given a three line whip to attend a family gathering in Chandlers Ford. Not 20 miles from either event, probably closer to yours.

I was in Tuscany earlier. My son-in-law has a holiday villa in the foothills overlooking Cameriero. We went to open it up for the season and repair the damage from the winter rains in that part of Italy. Massive earth slides all around the area. He had only just got his water and electricity back on after 5 months.
