MG MGA - Oil gauge jumping

My oil gauge has begun to flick rapidly at idle. This has never happened before. Oil pressure at speed is always steady just below 70, pressure at idle is usually just below 60. Recently at idle it's been flicking back and forth quickly between 55 and 65. Seems to only happen when hot, but I'll double check on that when I go to the garage today and start it up. I suspect either the pressure relief valve, or the flexible line that runs from the block to the gauge pipe.

I read the archives and one suggestion was air in the line which doesn't sound plausible to me. A few others stated that their gauge is also jumpy and it's nothing to worry about unless the gauge starts fluctuating at speed. I've driven the car for seven years and 30,000 miles on this engine and never saw tha gauge do that until this season, so part of me really doesn't want to ignore it.

I guess I should have read the current threads instead of the old ones. Just saw Paul Longbottom's thread six spaces down. I'll wait and see how he fares with the new poppet.
