MG MGA - Overflow bottle

Hi,
I've now rebuilt the engine after the "piston broke" episode and am refitting this weekend (Easter). I seem to recall that Steve Gyles (possibly) ran a thread about the overflow pipe going to a collector bottle as per later cars saving constant refilling of the radiator. Could anyone please direct me to either the article or archive title as I wish to explore the possibilities myself.
Many thanks and a happy Easter to all.
Ray.

My system is an expansion tank as per MGB. There is also an overflow bottle system. The main difference is that my expansion tank is pressurised (pressure cap is on the expansion tank, sealing blanking cap on radiator), whereas on the overflow bottle the pressure cap remains on the radiator.

This is the link to my expansion tank system: http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/radiator_expansion_tank.htm

You can place the tank anywhere. Some people have them mounted on the shelf at the back of the engine compartment. Others have them installed on the pan infront of the radiator. I am happy with my installation, although it is a tight fit and I sometimes wonder if the carbs get enough cooling air. But I have not suffered fuel evaporation yet!

Best of luck

Steve,
Many thanks, that's just what I needed. I'll try to do this the weekend if we don't get the promised snow!!!

I was going to take the engine out for a clean-up and re-paint. Not so sure now I want to spend the cold weekend in the garage either.

Steve, I have a bottle but no bracket - any idea where I may obtain one?

Your fitting location is no good for me (and won't do for you either when you fit your Supercharger) as that location is occupied by a big pulley and a set of belts. Any idea where it can be best moved to (I also have an oil cooler and a radiator blind, so in front of the rad is not an option either). It's getting as tight for space as in a TC engine compartment ,,,,,,,

Steve, any excuse! If the forecast was for fair weather, you wouldn't do it either because you'd be out driving!

A couple of years ago when I put mine on I did it in exactly the same place as Steve. The only other spot I considered was somewhere on the scuttle opposite side to the master cylinder or on the heater where sometimes the washer bottle mounts
