MG MGA - Push-in type coil connector

Hi, a happy new year to you all. Maybe somebody can help me on this. What is the correct way to fit the connector to the end of the HT lead that pushes into a push-in type coil. I know this sounds a bit daft but I am used to the screw in type. Does the lead go right up to the end of the connector or just half way up? I've tried the first way but then have trouble getting it in. Also should these connectors be soldered or just clamped?
Many thanks,

PP I think this is an interesting question since there are a number of ways of finishing the end of the HT lead. I settled for a flat washer fixed with a small screw into the middle of the wire. Its held in place by friction and the rubber insulator gripping the coil. I have from time to time wondered if its the best option. Another way is to bend the wire up its side and squeeze the cable as a friction fit into the terminal of the distributor. This can be difficult to push home but there is the satisfaction of achieving positive contact. I'd always prefer a screw in type coil but I've fitted a sports coil and as far as I know they are not available with a screw fitting.
