MG MGA - Push Rod Damaged

People this is a follow on to my previous post - "Occasional engine Stutter" where I was asking about the chances that I was suffering from a valve sticking on warm up. Encouraged by you guys i did remove the head and took it back to the folks who had done the machining. The valve guides (phosphor bronze) were checked and re-machined so I hope this has resolved the problem. However, on starting the refit I noticed the damage shown below to the no. 5 push rod, which I assume indicates which valve was giving the trouble and hence the rod bouncing in the seat of the follower. All the other push rods - visually look fine, so do I replace one or the complete set. I haven't yet looked closely at the cam follower but expect to see some damage to the shoulder of the socket, if so do I replace just the one or the complete set? As I reported in my original post once the engine was warm it ran exceptionally well with no significant engine noise so I'm hoping no damage has been done to the camshaft which has only done about 1500 miles since the rebuild. Grateful for any comments.

Just replace the damaged pushrod, the others should be OK. As for the follower/lifter I would examine it and if the area that the pushrod seats into is not damaged it should be OK to use. No need to replace all the other parts that were working well.

Hi Ed, thanks for the comment that's the way I will go, but when I get chance I want to have a good look at all the other pushrods, followers and rocker fittings just in case there's any further damage.

I'm not sure here, but I wonder, valve stem straightness? Was that a possible contributor to the "stutter"? Can the workshop guarantee this was checked?

I've had the silicone bronze valve guides in my XPAG (MGTC) engine seize the valve stems - always on the exhaust valves. I've had them opened up but after this last time I'm going back to stock valve guides.
