MG MGA - Rechroming

Can anyone in the UK help with a contact for rechroming bumpers where they've personally had high quality work carried out? I've had so much trouble over the years with sub standard chrome I've given up on my local crew and in desperation am seeking some one else even if I do have to post the goods to them.
Thanks
J H Cole

I was given this contact by Mark Hester and Bob (I used to have a cat and a Morris): http://www.sportscarmetalworks.com/

They both thoroughly recommended him - Metal Micky I think they called him!

I am about to entrust him my grille surround for chroming.

Hi Steve, Like JH I need a reliable re chroming contact - my grille surround needs doing as well - would be interested in the quote you have got and the standard that results when completed - also a reliable carrier that won't dent the completed grille!! - cheers Cam

Sports Car Metalwork seems to manufacture items themselves. I assume they send what they make out to a local chrome shop, but I could be wrong. He also sells items like bumpers, which just look like "Taiwan" imports, but the grill surrounds he makes are of a very high quality. Much better than that of Moss.
Personally I've not had anything rechromed, I just purchased new, but I must admit headlight rim's I purchased lasted about 6 months before starting to rust.

The trick with rechroming is to ask how long the items spend in the actual chrome tank. Then make sure they don't buff all the chrome off again.

I asked Metal Mickey to rechrome my bumpers but the tank his source uses is too small to fit them in.

I am going for a new grille surround manufactured by Mick. Price looks good, making refurbishment of my current dented surround a poor alternative. I will report back on quality within the next week or 2.
