MG MGA - Seat position

I have mounted my seat rails according to Barney's templates. I don't have the body on at the moment so it is hard to see how it really is. At the furthest forward position, the distance between the front of seat frame tube and the rear of the cross-member is 8".
Does this sound OK ?
A Happy New Year to all!

I have the seats and rails attached to the floorboards out of the car and my measurement is 7 and 13/16" from the front rail to the edge of the floorboard. I didn't use any templates because my legs are shorter than average! .......................Mike

Great. Thanks Mike.

Art,

I cannot comment on the fore and aft measurements, but do take care with the side to side fit. With the seat all the way back be sure that there is some clearance between the outside top edge of the seat and the soft top frame. Sorry I don't have precise measurements but I also used Barney’s templates. The passenger side is fine, but the driver’s side is rubbing lightly on the soft top frame.

Happy New Year,

John, I don't have the body on yet, let alone the soft top frame, but I was aware of the side clearances being minimal especially with the seat forward. I checked the clearances to the chassis with the seat base and cushion and they are fine. I guess I'll find out about the other later on in 2012!

Art,

How about a few more pictures of your project? How did all that panel work turn out?

John, as requested next 4 posts!
This is the body, now joined front to back with the sill beam per Barney's design. Currently working on painting the bits that won't show. Hope to do outer paint in the summer. I'm using the Master Series Polyurethane primer with lots of aluminium filler, recent post about it.

This is the LH rear fender. I had to completely remake the front flange, profiling the inner to the pillar and the outer to the door. The PO had brazed it to the pillar so it had to be cut off. The front had also been dented so had to be bashed out. Also redid the PO half assed attempt at fixing the dogleg.

This is the RH front fender. It had been hit and the PO had put 3/4" of bodo on it. I had to remove the bulkhead (in 3 pieces), flatten them and re-join, remove the bondo, then beat out the dents to match the proper bulkhead orofile. Obviously it will need a skim of filler. Not quite finished as the bulhead is not permanently fixed.

Finally, the chassis with engine and gearbox installed. I have not run the motor yet.
