MG MGA - starter crank bracket dimensions
Hi folks. My friend Terry is rebuilding an MGA MKII. He is a professional metal craftsman, and has already made numerous sheet metal, and other metal parts while restoring his car. He wants to fabricate as opposed to purchasing all necessary parts if possible. The issue is not money based. He simply wants the satisfaction of making these parts for his ultimate road toy. To that end, does anyone have dimensions for the starter crank reinforcement bracket that fits behind the front bumper? Terry is missing this part, and wants to fabricate it. I know the part costs less than $10.00 Thanks! Glenn

Glenn, I had some free time (since I'm not writing poetry) and, being an "old" engineer, I made you a sketch of this part (AHH5477). There is a rather strange offset in the area where the starter crank hole is. I can't swear that it was originally made that way, but, its very symmetrical and doesn't appear to be some sort of damage. I scanned the sketch in (who says old dogs...errr.. engineers, can't learn new tricks) and am e-mailing you a copy in jpeg format. Or at least I will, just as soon as you return two copies of the liability release form I'm sending, signed by your Lawyer and noterized .....just kidding! Regards, GTF

Hi GT. Both Terry and I thank you for your kind assistance. This is way beyond the call of duty. Liability release eh? lol Will talk to my Lawyer pronto. Glenn
