MG MGA - Sticking brakes
I have recently bought a 1959 MGA which someone has fitted with a servo inaccessibly hidden in the RH front wing. My brakes stick on slightly but release after about 10/20 secs. I have had it suggested to me that the silicone fluid, which it also has, does not lubricate some valve in the servo causing this effect. Apparently the master cylinder was recently overhauled in relation to this problem. I see that there was a thread on this subject but it has expired. I intend to replace the rear hose to start with and refill with normal DOT 4 fluid.

Do not refill with dot 4, this will certainly condemn every rubber seal in the car. If you believe the servo is causing a problem then make a new brake pipe and simply bypass the servo. I have always thought that to be a terrible place to mount the servo. Enevitable leaks will take the paint of the wing and rust will set in, that is why you need to use silicone fluid.

If you are going to convert ot DOT 4 brake fluid, you need to completely clean out all of the silicone fluid and replace all the seals with new ones to keep from having problems with swelling seals. Good luck - Dave

I put a post on the B technical bulletin which will solve your problem.
