MG MGA - Tach cable routing (Correction) Speedo cable

Opps!

I need the routing for the speedo cable not the tach. Also, looking back through the restoration guide, I found a photo of the two items anchored by the single clip on the heater shelf...they are the barke and clutch pipes. The photo shows that as being correct for the MK II. Does anyone know when the routing change occured as the early routing has those pipes running below and in front of the heater shelf. Thanks!

You might check Todd Clarks "MGA OWNER'S INFORMATION & TECHNICAL GUIDE". It has a wealth of info for MGA restoration. His parts catalog is also very useful. Marvin

These are the bulkhead holes for the De Luxe and 1500.

No Steve,

Using Todds tech. booklet, Have all the cables coming through the correct places in the firwall. However, the speedo cable seems like to should be attached at some point between the firewall and the tranny. Just not sure if it is and should it be, where that point might be located. Cheers!

Robert,
My speedometer cable has a clip that attaches under one of the heater shelf body mount bolts. Not sure if that's original or not but it seems to make sense. There is also a clip lower down, on one of the tranny bolts I think.

Just one P-clip that goes on one of the tunnel bolts with a hex nut, first bolt off center from the top of the tunnel. This holds the cable away from the bell housing and starter drive so it doesn't rub on anything. It also makes R&R of the gearbox and engine easier when the speedo cable stays out of the way and doesn't get pinched between bell housing and tunnel.
