MG MGA - throttle linkage spring?
When rebuilding my throttle linkage I bought a spring from MOSS they show in their catalog as Part 8 (or 329-025)on the "engine Controls" page. In the drawing it looked to me like it was a return spring for the linkage running from the pedal across to the passenger side where the cable attaches. I knew there was no spring under the dash on the drivers side of my car when I took it a part, but I assumed that mine was missing. Now that I have the part I cannot see where it goes. Any advice? Thank you

I just had a look at my 62, and there is a spring attached to the bracket where the cable is attached. The other end attaches to a piece of metal that is just to the left of where the cable passes thru the firewall. There is no spring on the drivers side on my car.

I suspect our UK Moss catalogue is slightly different to yours. However the parts shown on my page 8 tally up with what I have in the cockpit of my right hand drive car. The diagram also shows the left hand drive arrangement. The accelerator cable guide that is bolted to the right hand side of the firewall has a drilled lug on it to take one end of the spring. For left hand drive cars the throttle pedal cross shaft also has a drilled lug opposite the cable guide to take the other end. In our right hand drive cars we do not have the cross shaft. Instead, the spring attaches to the top of the throttle pedal above its fulcrum. Steve

I found a hole in the firewall just to the left of the casble hole. I put a bolt in it with ahole drilled, attached the spring to it, and looped the other end around the shaft. Seems to work. Thanks!
