MG MGA - Timing chain tensioner - buy upgrade?

Good afternoon,
My engine build continues at a snail pace. I was reading Barney's notes to help me decipher the instructions on installing the tensioner. Thanks Barney!!
When I read the discussion of tensioner problems I began to regret buying the basic one (Moss 460-560) Big difference in cost seemed unnecessary but now I wonder.

Is the quality of the Rolon tensioner still an issue? And is the French version noticeably longer lived? If it is I'll go for the premium model (460-561) and swallow the cost.

Thanks,
Jack B.

Crikey, that’s some price difference.

NOS items do appear on eBay UK from time to time. I don’t know about eBay.com though.

John, chain tensioners are a continuing issue, and the vintage Jagaur unit seems to be one which many MGA owners have turned to. Do reach out to Basil Adams in CA and he may be of assistance. He's well known in the MG community and sells quality & proven parts for road and race cars. Here's his contact info:

You'd have to ask if they have them--but they're making these rippers for Jaguars Austin Healey and MGC

Thanks gentlemen for confirming the issue still exists. I don't want the risk so will go for the Jaguar item where I can find it. I will definitely try your suggested sources first.

Many thanks,
