MG MGA - Twin Cam Dunlop Master Cylinder wanted

Gents,

I've tried ALL the usual places, but can't turn up one of these.

On the off chance that a standard MGA owner has collected one and would like to part with it?

Please email me direct if you have one or know someone.

Cheers
Mark.

Still on the hunt if anyone has any leads for me

Thanks

Did you try Lawrenz.de? Or those guys in the USA? Do you have one at all that could be reconditioned?

Hi Dominic,

Yes tried everywhere.

I don't have one to recondition either.

I have a lead on one, but that's it for the moment.

Cheers
Mark.

Mark,

did you try Jurgen Kuhnle at

http://www.mg-gebrauchtteile.de/pi14/index.html

he might have one, at least one to rebuild.

Mark, if you can't find one, you can use a Triumph TR-4 Girling cylinder - same bolt pattern.

Have you tried Peter Wood in the UK. He's one of the oldest running garages and stockists of twin cam parts and years ago used to feature his cars in classic car magazines. I spoke to him recently and he says he is currently overhauling some master cylinders. He says theres a possibility of aluminium cast m/cylinders and supplies from Mexico! but you may know some of this anyway.
His Tel No is 01296 730 310. He runs an old fashioned garage and prefers people to write in and will put them in a 'queue' for the rarer items:

Westwood Portway
Portway Road
Twyford

Hi Guys,

Yes I've tried all the Twin Cam guys in Oz, UK and US, plus the yahoo group.

Now it's just a case of finding finding a non twin cam owner who may have one by accident.

As many of you know the car it's for (PJB) can't really have a repo one.

So if I find one it's going to a very good home.

Cheers
Mark.

Hi, I had a spare until I bought a deluxe which had a DAF truck cylinder on it. Try Derek Edwards, I can't find his number at the moment but he might be at Stoneleigh on the 24th

Hi Mark

I have sent the guy in Germany a mail and tried to call him, but no answer. It's holidays here at the moment, so I'll probably reach him early next week.

Mark, I spoke to Jurgen today - he was in England last week, and sold the master cylinder while he was there. He made two suggestions: Peter Wood is supposed to be casting some new ones (but you probably know that), otherwise he thinks he knows someone who has a spare one, and will contact him to see if he's prepared to sell it. I told him the reason you want an original.

He promised to mail me in the next few days. I'll be away from mail and all things internet from Saturday for three weeks, so I hope to answer you before then. If not, mail him directly.

Does anyone have a Dunlop or BMC part nbr? A casting number?

Mark, just a slim chance but there used to be a guy who specialised in mga twin cams who ran a garage down the southside of Brisbane near the Bay about 20 years ago. I used to use him for all the work on my MGAs and he had a huge stash of spare parts for MGAs including twin cams ( I remember checking out a burnt out twincam sitting in his forecourt he bought for $200!). I understand he still plays with twin cams even though he would now be in his 70s. Think his name was Douglas (first or last, can't remember) and I reckon if you gave Rod Hiley or David at Abingdon Motors Brisbane a call tomorrow (07 38442881) they will know how to get in contact with him. By the way Abingdons is just finishing off a 100 point resto of a twincam so they might also have some leads
