MG MGA - valve cover racers?

All of this snow talk and garage talk has gotten me down...12" of the white stuff here over the past week...and me without a garage! Boo-hoo! My work space is all naturally lit...at least on good weather days. It was once said of New England that we have 364 days of winter, and 4th of July! A challenge for us 'shade-tree' mechanics.

Car is in storage off site for the winter, which means I am religated to things that I can do in my basement shop. Thoughts of a winter project building a valve cover racer for next springs events come to mind.

Anyone about built a valve cover racer? Good stories to tell? Scrap valve cover to offer an antsy fellow MGA buff to carry me through until Easter?

Cheers,

Rick

Rick, I've built one and had a lot of fun racing it at a couple of events. They're easy to build, of course if you're a real gearhead and engineer they can get pretty high tech as well. There is a good article in the British V8 Newsletter about valve cover racers along with some building tips. Sorry I can't offer a scrap cover, but that is something that is usually pretty easy to come up with at your local scrap yard. http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/2008-ValveCoverRacing.htm
