MG MGA - Which metering needles to start with?
I'm looking for suggestions for H4 metering needles appropriate (as a starting point) to use with a '72 1800 motor. Thanks |

"MB" according to John Twist at University Motors. |

Interesting...The 1st and 2nd stations match for idle, but the rest of MB's stations would cause a far more lean condition. In adding another 200cc (100cc per carb) by moving from a 1600 to 1800 engine, I would think a somewhat richer feed-per-station would be called for... Is this what you installed DS? Does it give you a good response? Thanks, JB |

It is indeed the one I've installed. The engine has only run on the test stand to break in the cam. I'll have the chassis to the point where I'll be able to drive it around the block. This'll give me a better idea. (Really ran well when tuned & timed!) I too had similar concerns. I'll be installing a rich / lean O2 sensor and gage for fine tuning and altitude "tweaks" Hopefully someone further down this path will pipe in. |
