MG MGA - WHICH ENGINE DOES THIS FLYWHEEL FIT

I posted this on the MGB Tech list but since this clutch looks like it is for an MGA I am copying my post here. The flywheel itself appears way to light to be an original MGA.
I have a spare flywheel and clutch but I am not sure which engine it fits. The clutch assembly appears to look like it came from an MGA engine but there is no logic to my owning a spare MGA engine flywheel & clutch. I have looked thru my manuals and catalogs & cannot positively identify it.
The diameter of the flywheel face nearest the engine is 11 9/16 inches, the clutch face diameter is 10 1/2 inches. The rim of the flywheel has the balancing mark of 1!4 The clutch springs are probably light gray in colour.
The flywheel has 6 bolt holes to crank, no pin holes.
There are two alignment pins to fit the clutch to the flywheel. The flywheel weight does not seem heavy enough to be a 28 lb MGA flywheel.
I think but do not know, that the flywheel is off a 18G/GB three main bearing 1800 engine. Before putting it up for sale I need to be able to describe exactly what I have.
I also understand, if this assembly is for an 18G/GB engine it is the flywheel used when installing an 1800 engine into an MGA and retaining the MGA gearbox.
Thanks
Morris

Looks and sounds like MGA. MGA uses 2 alignment pins. MGB uses 3 alignment pins. MGA and early MGB flywheels are interchangeable except for the alignment pins. I have an early MGB flywheel mated to my MGA engine.

If you can weigh the flywheel, 1500/1600 parts are about 28 pounds, 1600-MK-II and early MGB parts are about 20 pounds. The physical difference is shown here:

Once again Barney has come to the rescue. I cannot count the times he bailed me out when I was restoring my 1960 MGA. I bought my MGA disassembled with boxes and boxes of parts except that a rebuilt 1622 engine and gear box were installed in the frame. Obviously, a spare flywheel and clutch lay hidden in one of the boxes.
This flywheel front side next the engine looks like the drawing Barney refers me to. I will weigh the flywheel but I am pretty sure if will weigh in around 20#s.
I assume with the addition of three properly located pins this flywheel can be used for an early MGB engine.
Thank you Barney.

The alignment pins are on the same Basic Circle for both MGA and MGB, so one pin can remain in original location. Remove one pin and add two to convert A to B. Remove two pins and add one to convert B to A. The pin location holes need to be jig bored for accurate location so the clutch cover runs on center for good balance.

Some early MGB flywheels had holes for both types of clutch alignment pins. Image on mine attached.

Jim,

I'm glad you posted that. I put an early MGB flywheel on my engine some years ago and I have no recollection of having to drill extra holes. Now I know that I didn't have to.

I was starting to think my memory had totally gone.
