MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - 2.8, 3.1 or 3.8 V6???
Hello guys. I want to begin the search for a conversion engine/tranny. I know I want a V6, but what are your opinions on my possible choices. Of course, I am looking for ease of installation and $$$$. What trans. should I look for? I have an 80B. Also, does the engine have to be rear wheel drive? Is there an engine that will bolt directly to an 80B trans? Thanks in advance! |

Contact Bill Guzman at bggtv6@aol.com . He has a kit to bolt the v-6 in with no welding. He seems to know a great deal on the v-6. I purchased a kit and it is going in perfectly. He has been a wealth of knowlrdge Garret |

I echo the above statements. Bill is very helpfull and into this particular swap. There is another conversion kit out there. It uses front wheel drive engines. These engines are quite plentyfull, whereas the camaro ones are harder to fing. The FWD engin kit will also allow FI to be retained and fit under the hood with no bonnet bulge. As far as tranny is concerned, there is really only one choice: You need a transmision from a V8 powered Camaro/Firebird with the .63 overdrive. They are not easy to find and used ones are ussualy abused items that the V8 guys are giving up on. Any other tranny and your hihway revs wil be too high. First gear will be usseless in all five speed applications. Pete |
