MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - mechanical fuel pump

Out of interest, is there anything to be gained by removing the original MGB electric fuel pump, and running with a buick original style engine driven fuel pump on the 215? I would assume that the answer is no, but I've always wondered a bit about that.

Six of one, half dozen of the other ... I went to electric only so I wouldn't have fuel lines all through the hot engine bay. Mechs are great ... no need for cutoff switches, relays, etc. Plus they are very, very, very quiet. Like silent. They do take a tiny amount of power but then so does an electric. All in, I think going to electric was not my most scintillating ideas.
