MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Narrow gas tank

Has anyone seen or know a source for the narrow gas tank mentioned by the MGOC in their MGB V8 Super Sports build up? The extra room for dual exhausts would be great. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,I have a 79 B that I just converted.I started out with a single exhaust,but decided I wanted to go with duals(gotta have the duals with a V-8!!!)You can use your stock tank.All you have to do is move it over a couple of inches and center it.This will require making a new hole for the filler tube and patching the old one which is easily done.You will also have to grind off the old mounting studs and drill new holes to mount it.I filled the old holes that remained with bolts.I then got a filler neck from a midget so I would have the angle I needed to point it to the new location of the tank neck and shortened it to put the rubber hose in between.Once this is done you will have the room for the pipes.This project will only take a couple of hours to do if you have the tools.I can send you some pics if you like.

Ken;
I am working on a MGA V8, and I did center the tank.I would like to know what mufflers you used, and how do they sound. I would very much like to see pictures.

I also used the stock fuel tank and centered it. I also had to relocate,the valance cut out on the left side as well as make a new one on the right side.

I am looking for the narrow tank to allow room for duals with tube shocks. I understand even the narrow tank requires relocation of the filler neck. Has anyone done dual exhaust with tube shocks?

Joe
I have tube shocks on the rear of my car. The dual exhaust will clear them ok. I also have under car photos if you would like to see the installion.

Larry;

Working on MG V8 projects has been a fun father son project. I hope to have mine finished by the first of July so I can take it to the Rally in the Valley 2001 at Kelowna B.C. www.vsi.bc.ca/obcc/. Will you be there?

I will not be in the area the 1st week. :-(
I doubt mine will be to the "finish and polish" of your guys, but she should be on the road, one of these meets/rally(s) we will all meet..
