MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Transmission Adapters
Does any know of a manufacturer who makes an adapter to mate an MGC transmission to a Rover V8? I don't think there is one which is why I would also ask if any knows where I can find blueprints of the rear of the V8 and the MGC to build my own adapter plate. I would like blueprints with dimensions so I can accurately center the transmission input shaft in the pilot bushing of the V8. |

John, I stuffed the internals from a '69 MGC OD transmission into an MGB case so I could use it with an MGB/Rover adapter kit I had. That may be an option, especially if you plan to rebuild your gearbox. I changed my mind regarding engines in this particular car and sold the kit. By the way, the fellow I sold the kit to plans to resell it. He's going to an automatic. The kit included the plate, crankshaft adapter, MGB flywheel machined to accept an MGC clutch and a new driven plate. I also have the overdrive box I no longer need. David |

David: Thanks for the information. The reason I want to use the MGC transmission is that I already have it and don't need to spend the money. I looked at using an MGB case, but the modfications to the V8 block mean that I wouldn't be able to try a T-5 at a later date if I wanted to start drag racing with the car. |
