MG MGB Technical - 1971 MGB overdrive inhibitor
The overdrive on my 71 B will only engage in 3rd and 4th gear if i pull the gearstick towards me (towards the driver RHD) I think it will be the inhibitor on the left of the gearbox needing adjustment, thinking it screws into the box, will it need screwing in a few turns or out a few?? |

You will have to screw it in to reduce the amount of distance it is from the shifter rod. There may be a washer, underneath the switch, that needs to be removed. This will accomplish the task if the switch isn't worn beyond adjustment tolerances. RAY |

Originally there were a couple of spacers, try removing one (unless the switch can be screwed in a bit i.e. was loose). It's tricky to get to, you may well have to drop the back of the gearbox and rear crossmember on a jack, as well as remove the tunnel console, carpet, and 'access' panel. |
