MG MGB Technical - Body Trim Installation
What's the best way to install the stainless steel body trim strips on my '64 MGB? I've always assumed you should just snap them into place, rather than slide them into place. Is this correct? Any hints that would help me keep from marking up the paint would be appreciated. Thanks, Rich |

I've always snapped them in. I usually get the screw in end started then snap the rest on. Try wide masking tape- the blue kind with less stick on either side of where the trim goes to keep from scrathing your paint |

Rich: There are several places on the trim where you can't really just "pop" it on. On my '69 there is a bolt on slide clip that sits closest to the headlight assembly. The trim won't come off without scratching the car if this piece isn't undone first. Another comes to mind at the door midsection, where another bolt on slide sits. I think there is yet another at the rear edge on the quarterpanel trim as well. As your car is earlier it may have different set-ups to mine. Good luck, Luis |

Thanks for the input, William and Luis. I managed to get it installed with only one paint chip (argh!!) Check it out here: http://64mgb2.home.mchsi.com/64mgb_20020311.html Rich |
