MG MGB Technical - Cross member location

The abandoned project is about to reach a milestone. I hope to put the engin & gearbox back in the car this week. It apears that the crossmember that the gearbox rests on can be attaced in one of two places.
Does it go forward or rearward? Thanks, Tom, TC 2850

Tom, it's mounted to the rear holes on my 74 with overdrive transmission. I think it was also mounted in the same holes with the 4 speed transmission.

You can't bolt it up until the gearbox is in position. So bolt it to the gearbox first then raise it up to the correct position & use whichever holes line up. If the car has been laying about for a long time, it might be advisable to clean out the threads of the anchor nuts first. Barrie E

As Barrie says when you have the engine attached to its mountings and the gearbox attached to the engine it will be obvious which set of holes the rear cross-member should be attached to, and you shouldn't attach it until then.
