MG MGB Technical - Fender Mirror Mounting

Hi all,
I'm getting ready to mount the mirror on top of the pass. fender of my '68 GT (US spec).
I need measurement from the fender edge at the headlite trim ring back to the mirror hole
center.
The fender that came with the car was a replacement and it is 5" different than a '69 I have for parts.
The measurements I have are 24 1/4" and 29 1/4". All help greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

My car is a '71 B/GT with original factory fenders.

My right side fender mirror is mounted 24 1/4"
from the front leading edge of the fender
(just behind the headlamp chrome ring).

Hope this helps.

My '68 GT matches Daniel's measurement exactly.

My 1970 (built in Aug. 69) has the right side wing mount mirror placed at 25" from the rear of the headlight rim. I suspect that this distance was not layed out by jig or template, but was left the eyeball of an experienced worker on the line. Or it was done more as an aftermarket type of mounting by the dealer or distributor/importer and a tape was used to get it close, but there wass no need for a precise measurement. Personally, I would place it where it gave the best view toward the rear with the least amount of eye movement from centerline.

Both my B and C look to be about 24 1/4" from the HL mounting flange, and just a smidgen to the outboard side of the apex of the wing.

I've got another wing ('70?) that has the hole about 23 3/4". I'd say go with 24ish....

HTH!

Thanks all for the info.
Between the BBS and email replys, it seems that 24 1/2" + - 1/4 is the
overall winner. With so many near the same, I wonder if it was dealer installed,
or factory options for US destined cars. The odd ones out of this range were probably installed
later. Anyone have option lists for documentation on this?

not from any knowledge --but I cant imagine they would install fender ( wing) mirrors at the factory and then ship the car across the pond with high risk of damage to that mirror . Just my thoughts
I think it was probably dealer installed .
