MG MGB Technical - Flex Brake Hose Position

Howdy Folks,

I'm trying to determine the proper placement of the flex hose from the front brake caliper to the frame. When I bought the car, a 70 MGB GT, it was a rolling chassis and boxes of parts. There were no brake lines so I'm not sure where to run the end of the metal brake line (top or bottom of bracket). The metal line joins the flex line at the bracket, but which end is up?

In short, does the flex hose insert through the bottom of the frame securing bracket or through the top?

Thanks!

Andy, The brake hoses on my 74 go into the brackets from the bottom.

Thanks Clifton. That seems to be the best position but I wasn't sure. My problem is that the new metal brake line is a little short, so I'll need to re-bend in a couple of places for the right side brake. Left side appears to have enough left over to reach.

Thanks again!

Get a copy of Claussagers Original mgb book. It gives very clear views on nearly every conceivable angle and on nearly every model of MGB. I have used this as an exclusive reference to build both my Bs from nuts and bolts. If you use a magnifying glass you can see nearly every detail on some original cars.
