MG MGB Technical - Front fender removal
Do you have to remove the dash to remove the front fenders on a 1972 roadster? |
Andy Taylor |
You may be able to, it just won't be much fun. The left side will be harder then the right. |

I removed the windscreen but left the dash in place. With 20/29 hindsight I would have done better to remove both. |

You *have* to remove the screen, but the dash is optional. I've been able to get the screen off OK with the dash (UK tin admittedly) in place by removing the screws holding the fibre-board glovebox to the dash on the one side and removing the fuel gauge and overdrive switch on the other to give access to the bolts. Removing the dash is quite a big job, unless you just intend to remove the mounting bolts and pull it forwards with everything left connected. Later dashes are easier as they have one or more multi-way plugs to a separate dash harness. |

On cars with the padded US dash you can remove the screen without removing the dash. Small hands and a lot of swearing is required. |
