MG MGB Technical - Fuel Pump

I recently purchase an electronic fuel pump from MOSS to replace my leaking pump. In addition to the fuel in and out ports there are two small piping connections. One on the inside of the trunk and the other under the car. My old pump has neither of these penetrations to the pump body. It only has the fuel in and out connections. Does anyone know what they are for and if they require hose connections and to what? The car is a 79.

The two small hose barbs on the fuel pump are for breather hoses. On earlier cars, the hoses are
exactly like the clear nylon hoses used in pet aquariums, are about 24", or so, long - and end in a
plastic "T" fitting.

As the pump is working, the diaphragm displaces air within the pump body. The breathers alleviates
any pressure that the diaphragm would otherwise have to work extra hard to overcome.

The hoses are there to help keep out dirt and moisture, and - to a lesser degree - help deprive a fire of
oxygen in case an internal fuel leak should reach and soak the points. Since you have an electronic
pump the chances of a fire sparked by points are practically zero.

Screen washer tubing and tees, the tees are mounted in the bottom front right-hand corner of the boot/trunk.

Thanks. I appreciate the information. I'll put the car back together this weekend.
