MG MGB Technical - Fuel Pump Location
I am trying to locate the fuel pump. I have followed the fuel line from the tank to the carb. I do not see the pump. I have found two fuel filters. One filter is in back in parallel to the rear axle by the tank. The filter is up on the fire wall. Any ideals. I think the DPO might have removed it and replace it the a fuel filter. Another question. I know the red wire goes from the fuse box to the rear to run the rear lights. How does the red wire connet up to the main wire harness? Thanks in advance Steve

Does that rear parallel filter have a wire connected to it ? There is an aflermarket fuel pump which strongly resembles a fuel filter.

The rear fuel filter does not have any wire attached. I thought it might be an after market pump but is not. I think that is where the pump might go, But I do not know. Oh, By the way I am talking about a '77 MGB.

Steve, all the wires going to the rear of the car connect to the main harness at the firewall, on the right side of the car. There will probably be a bunch of bullet connectors in one place, the red wire will be one of them.

Steve, Take a look in the trunk. At the back of the trunk near the floor, slightly to the right of center is a square black metal box. Take the little box off and see if the is anything that looks like the back end of a fuel pump. The fuel pump "normally" resides there, with the front of the pump accessable from under the car Dave.

Steve, If you haven't found the pump yet try turning the key to on (don't start it) and follow the click-click-click sound to the pump. Mike '79B
