MG MGB Technical - gear box mounting position
Hello, I have just watched a video on you tube which states that if you have an overdrive gear box you should use the holes in the cross member which are furthest away from engine (there are two holes in the cross member with which a threaded bolt in the rubber mounting goes through). However I have a 1971 roadster with overdrive and have positioned the mounting as discribed above, only to find the mounting holes for the cross member don't align with the chassis rails. Does anyone know which location holes in the cross member (for the rubber mounting) and in the chassis rails I should be using? Many thanks |

Alex, I'm not sure if you are talking about mounting the cross member to the car, or mounting the rubber mounts to the cross member. However, when I put an overdrive in my 68, I don't recall that either were different than with the non-OD. Charley |

Alex I did this last xmas. there are 17 + different ways for it to fit, and the videos differ! have a look at Paul Hunts website for details. Mine was easier as I was removing and replacing at the same time www.mgb-stuff.org.uk |
