MG MGB Technical - Gearbox front cover gasket
I am replacing the gearbox front seal and cover gasket on a 1977 MGB overdrive gearbox from a North American spec car. The replacement gasket has 9 bolt holes but the cover has 8. The 9-hole gasket fits the 8-hole cover, sort of. But I'd rather have an exact fit gasket. Is the 8-hole gasket available? |

It looks like it should be an 8-hole as the Parts catalogue indicates there are eight washers and nuts for all versions of the 4-synch gearbox (seven on the 3-synch). The gasket seems to be GUG705707GM from various sources, where did you get yours from? |

Thank you Paul, now I know that my gearbox is "normal". I purchased 2 gasket sets from an ebay seller about 3 years ago, but I don't remember the seller's name or business. I will purchase another from Moss. |
