MG MGB Technical - How Should I Mount Fog Lights - 71 B

Hey Guys,

I am wanting to mount two Lucas fog lights to the front of the B - my car has the recessed grille.

I see three holes in the base of the grille surround and each is covered by rubber plug. Are these holes intended for the stem-mount Lucas fog lights? If so, the holes seem that they would place the lamps very close to the actual grille slats.

I know that there are also the back-mount fog lights. I wondered what you all have done to mount your lights - what is the best approach here.

With the recessed grille, I think the front end looks much better with a couple of nice fog lights added.

I may also turn them on at night!

Thanks in advance
Jeff Delk

No! There is a bolt underneath each plug! For fixing the grill! Or at least there is on mine!

I don't have fog lights so can't help with the rest

Do it the way you want!

Usualy something is fixed to the bumper mounts.
But all is dependant on exact type and mount of spots.

The lucas spots with rear mount usualy where used as reversing lamp.
Though they have also been used with a modified frontvalance (can look very cool)

Use the occasion to fit relais for the low, high and spots and use a thick gauge wire to feed the relais from the starter feed

Yes, as Micheal said, these blacking plugs just hide some bolts, I do not think this is a standard fog lamp mounting suggestion. You will need to know what the regulations are for your cars year etc as I believe the lamps had to be a certain height off the ground and certain distance from each other? Why no move to a country with no fog? Mike

Lack of fog doesn't stop people here running with fronts if not rears blazing away.
