MG MGB Technical - lowering the front end

I just brought my new 74 b home for the first time. It seems to be a tad bit more comfortable than my old 66. It dosn't have the same get up and go but this I can take care of with a little time and $. My main objective at this time is to try to get it to handle as well as the old car. The front end is an inch higher than the rear. Measuring from center of hub to chrome strip. 15" front, 14" rear. Is there a way to use the current coil springs and still lower the car or will I need to buy the lowered ones? I would rather use the $100.00 on a nice pair of K&N's.
BTW, it's a chrome bumper 74.

Tom-
From what you describe I suspect that your rear springs have gone soft. If you want to restore the car's handling, replace the rear springs first. Don't forget to order the bushings at the same time that you order the springs.

I tend to agree with Steve on the rear springs. On the other hand, isn't 15" from the chrome strip to the center of the hubs a bit high for the front of a CBB? My RBB (which is admitedly lowered a bit) is only 14.5" measured at the same points up front.
