MG MGB Technical - MOSS pistons

I ordered 40 over pistons from Moss for my MGB 3-main and ring#3 (oil scraper ring) is too thick to fit the pistons. One other person in my car club had this exact same problem last summer. Has Anyone else seen this issue?

No but I just got a lower a-arm bolt (MGA)from moss with nut and washer, and the castle nut was too short which caused me to lose a great deal of time trying to figure out why the bolt tightened past the cotterpin hole#$%^&*!! Luckilly the BBSmeisters helped figure out what was wrong.(not to be confused with BSmeisters);)

Moss also sent me headlight stone guards with only one set of clips which don't fit my std MGA and cust service refused to send the proper clips. Still got em in a box, unused.

Moss sent me a trans gasket set-mit aus der shift extension cover gasket. When I called(more wasted time), the cust service guy checked with the boss and he said it doesn't include that gasket!!??? Finally they sent one.

Why do I keep trying - I don't know??

I guess the moral of the storyis - Don't assume that parts from any supplier will just snap into your application. Check all parts b4 you assemble for it is not a given that they are the correct size.

Paul,
There was a problem a year or more ago with some of our pistons having the problem you describe. I didn't see in our records that you purchased them directly from us, so I must assume that you got them from one of our distributors who had some old stock on hand. Please contact me either by return email, or here at Moss and I'll help you straighten out the problem.

Fred,
Looking back at records, I see that you purchased the items in question back in '00, before I became involved in quality and customer service issues. I've posted to this BBS several times that I'm happy to help resolve just such issues. Please contact me directly about the stoneguard hardware and anything else that may still be hanging. I'll get it worked out for you.

Good for you, Moss/Craig - thanks for hanging out with us.

Craig,

It is absolutely fabulous that you read and post here. A number of problems have been solved by your vigilance, and I thank you on behalf of all you have helped.

I buy almost all my stuff from Moss through Ian Gill here in San Diego. I have yet to have a problem with anything I've purchased that wasn't quickly taken care of.

Paul Konkle

Thanks for the help, Craig.

Moss Motors should give Craig Cody a raise. The profits from potentially lost sales that are prevented by his monitoring of our BBS and personally intervening in cases like those of Paul and Fred would easily pay for it.
