MG MGB Technical - OD Gearbox Weight and dimensions
I am in the middle of the purchase of a later model overdrive unit and gearbox and am looking at the shipping options. Does anyone have the weight and size figures for the combined unit? Also - does anyone have any great - read cheap - means of shipping these units. Shipping would be from Dallas, TX to Georgia. If I have to, I may gas up the Honda and make a mad dash west to the Lone Star State! Thanks in advance, Jeff |

I have two sitting in the garage at home I can weight and measure for you if no-one gets in first! I am at work at the moment. |

Simon - that would be very helpful - if you could check back later on and see what the responses look like - then measure/weigh if needed - that would be perfect. Thanks so much, Jeff |

Well, these are pretty rough measurements but it might help. At the widest point (the bellhousing across the starter bump) it is 16 inches. Length is about 35.5 inches including the first motion shaft which sticks out past the bellhousing a little. Weight is 47kg! That's about 104 pounds according to Google. Heavier than I thought. I would have guessed about 30kg. I have no idea if mine have oil in them or not! Simon |

Simon - thanks so much for your effort and time in making the measurements. I will use those figures for my UPS order for shipping. Most appreciated, Jeff |
