MG MGB Technical - Pertronix ignitor II

Has anyone installed a pertronix Ignitor II on a late model MGB with the ballast resistor wiring loom? Are there any modifications that need to be made to the wiring as it is my understanding the standard wire to the coil only supplies 6V. I understand that the Ignitor II requires the use a different Coil (II)...does it matter if it sees 6 or 12 volts?
Frank

Frank, if its similar to the Crane XR3000 performance system, you need 12 volts to a good coil along with the unit. You may as well get the standard unit if you're not going to provide a full 12 volts. It will affect the ouput of the system.

Frank. It is fairly easy to set the car up to run full time 12V input to the coil. It does require the use of a 12V coil (early MGB or Lucas Sports Coil). The white wire circuit inputs to the front side of the fuse box at the third fuse from the top. You can run a wire from the input side directly to the + connection of a 12V coil, replacing the current connection with its resistor wire. Bob Ford, at Brit-Tek, includes instructions for this modification, and recommends it, with his replacement "Euro-Spec" distributors.
