MG MGB Technical - Rev Counter misreads

My rev counter misreads and never goes higher than about 3500rpm. Can it be adjusted to be fairly accurate, or do I need a new one? Seems to be accurate over the lower ranges, but it's inaccurate at higher ranges. Would electronic ignition also cause it to read incorrectly?

David...Did you just add the electronic ignition? You didn't say what year your car is.
Did the problem just show up or has it always been there?

Steve,
The Car is an mgb roadster, 1973. The ignition was already on the car when i purchased it. AFAIK, the problem has always been there.

David,

look at:

There you will find lots of infos about calibrating the tach.
