MG MGB Technical - speedo gearing 67 w/74 od installed
I have a 67B originally w/o an overdrive but now has a 74B overdrive transmission installed. Will the original speedo read correctly? I also have the o/d speedo from the donor 74B. If needed , will the mechanics from that speedo fit into the housing of the 67B speedo? |

I have the same setup in my car. And, yes, the internals from the later speedo will fit into the earlier housing with a little modification. RAY |

Only Mk1/3-synch cars have different speedo turns per mile between OD and non-OD. Jaeger speedos were 1040 and 1060tpm respectively, for some reason Smiths were 1020 and 1040. After that the two were the same at 1280, changing to 1000 on rubber-bumber cars. If you have changed from a 3-synch non-OD to a 4-synch OD you will have a much bigger error than simply changing between 3-synch non-OD and OD. |

My application showed no error when checked with a GPS unit. RAY |
