MG MGB Technical - Track Seats?

With track day weather soon arriving, I would like to replace my original 67 leather seats for something more apropriate. Has anyone else done this? I was looking at SPARCO, but I hear they do not fit the MGB. I want to stick with more of a race type seat without the recline feature.

Pete,
I race a MGB with a full fledged racing seat. Although totally appropriate for race-only use I would caution you to avoid this for a dual purpose vehicle.
You may want to reconsider the "reclining" type of "racy" seat.

Good race driving position (and most fixed race seats) put the seat back almost completely upright. Not a comfortable proposition for joy riding which I assume you intend to do as well.

The most important feature of a racy seat would be the size and firmness of the bolsters that restrain your hips and shoulders from moving from side to side while cornering. A full, 5 or 6 point safety belt harness also does wonders in keeping you from moving around. Any racy seat you install should have the belt holes through it near the shoulders, hips and between your legs for the crotch strap(s).

Also, measure any seat and your car carefully before purchasing and installing anything. My originally rubber bumpered B had pretty narrow space available due to the trans tunnel. I had to pay extra to get a narrower than normal seat. As it is, the seat is still an inch or two farther back than I would like it. To move it any farther forward it would have to placed off center from the steering wheel.

Have fun.

I've just recommended Brown & Gammons in another thread - I have nothing to do with them, in fact I've only spent about 10 quid with them myself...

B&G do a Ridgard racing/rally style seat in both cloth or leather that fits fine in a B. I've seen one and it's quite a nice seat. They're a bit expensive though, can't remember the cost.
