MG MGB Technical - Transmission Oil

What kind of transmission oil should I use for my 73 MGB to top it off?
J Kennedy

I think you will find that most people use 20W-50. I know this is what I use in my 73MGB - in both the engine and transmission.

If you look in the Archives, there is a lot of discussion and information about this topic.

My MG Mechanic advised the same IE: 20W-50 (Same as the engine oil) but he did say that if you have an overdrive do not use oil with the modern addatives (slippery stuff) as this will affect the overdrive.
I have always used Valvoline XLD Classic which is suppose to be formulated for engines designed before 1993.

I use Castrol 4T 20-50. This is designed for motorcycles that are 4 cycle and include the transmission and clutch in one housing. RAY
