MG MGF Technical - MGTF Service Action Bulletin ???

Hi,

just heard of a minor problem at mgtf from may be newer MY's.

There should have been a problem with the wiper/indicator ECU.

A DE owner said at our Forum;
My side window go down sometimes when I engage the indicators right or left. ;-)

Assuming this is according to any change with the MFU/Fuse panel ??
(MFU Multi Function Unit)

All the rumours are about a service action bulletin that asks the dealers to add anything like a surge surpressing capacitor _anywhere_

Would be great to getting more about this for the _files_

Doohh, I had a good time 4 years ago when I lived 10km distance from the German Importer office. No secrets ... ;-) but now ? :(

My TF135 is booked for a service next Saturday 3rd April. I will ask if anything is known.

Yeah, perk up your ears :))

Though, I need to correct.
It's not the indicators, but the WIPER.

Must be funny if wiper comes off and the window goes down :)
TzzzTzzzz .....

OMG! I have had this since I bought the car, and because it is imtermittant the dealer has said there is nothing they can do. It is scary when you are driving along and suddenly the window goes down!

My car is booked into the dealer on Friday for other items, so i will ask about this and see what they say!

Thank you sooooo much!

:)
I'll forward my paypal account ... LOL

Anyway, it is a bulletin, but no longer _published_ on paper or CD. It's awailable only within the dealers intra-net _online_.

Telling the dealers to add a suppressor element to the wiper switch.
The suppressor element (assume a capacitor to ground) should be a well known part from any older Rover.

Good luck with it.

If this fixes the problem Dieter I will be forever in your debt! Will let you know what happens and whether they deny allknowledge or not!

MG, the marque of friendship :)

Give a little, get a little.

Looking foreward to what you can find out about that part, and where to add.

The *why* is another question, cause it seams to be only required for MGTF made after a specific other product change.
Dieter K.

Dieter,
Like most things, from a certain date/production model MG probably sourced, or were maybe unaware of a new supply, of wiper motors or looms, therefore the problem could originate there. I hope they did not buy them from China, does not bode well for the future !

Maybe a recall in the not too distant future, anybody else ?

Interesting, as there is a known fault affecting new ZRs causing intermittent fault of tailgate electonic release activating when wipers are on. Same problem?

Happen to know that all sports cars sold in china are required to have "Looking of sight line free of imperialist transperant glass decadence!" more to do with the effects of proleterian road mud and bird flu virus staining the low level windows I think. When the indicator is operated the appropriate window is lowered to improve vision, simple, ask me another.

So here is evidence of Chinese take away software features leaking onto current production vehicles hmmm perhaps the future is brighter than Kes would have us beleive?. We will just have to wait till the 8th or 18th or 28th or August I bet Gordon Brown knows?
D Brunton

Ok, so I am just back from the dealer, and they say that they cannot find any bulletin on this subject. They freely discussed the problems with the tailgate on the ZR, but could find nothing about the TF.
I have to come up with a reference number for the bulletin.

So unless you know this number Dieter??? I am back to getting wet periodically.

Thanks for your help.
