MG MGF Technical - Rear shock's

A clonk has developed at the rear of my 2000 VVC. Looking at it, it appears to be the top of the rear shock's banging into the mounting plate (on the car). Having just had HGF replaced and the ride hieth reset (incorrectly 3 times), I wondered if the garage would have needed to remove them?. There doesn't appear to be anything like a rubber washer between the shock and mounting (although there is a rubber ring, metal cupped washer and nut on the top), should there be anything between the shock and mounting plate to stop the clunk?

Thanks
Keith

I'm sure there should be a top bush. have a look on Rob Bell's site http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/ There is a section on Suspension Bush Replacement uner the DIY tab. Shows where all the bushes should be as well as how to replace them.

There should be two rubber bushes on the top of the shocker. one on either side up the mounting plate.

If you need new ones best to go for the poly bush ones from MS, MGF Centre B&G centre etc.
