MG MGF Technical - Sourcing a K&N UPDATE

Just thought I'd let you know I have taken delivery of a shiny K&N, ordered from B&G on Monday!

I have the instructions showing pictures with VVC printed on the diagram...does this mean I'm going to have problems fitting or is this unimportant?

Looking forward to the added noise/power!!!

I take it you are fitting it to a 1.8i.

There is not a lot of difference between the 1.8i and vvc except the position of the throttle body is situated in a slightly different place (from memeory it about a inch further forward/back)

For fitting the K&N you can therefore follow the instructions without any problems.

Yes, sorry, I am fitting it to a standard 1.8i

Dead easy to fit, allocate about 60 mins, most of that is removing the engine access panel, getting the old airbox out and routing the plenum pipes, just wait for that sound....it shocked me the first time I heard it. :0)

Very true, but DON'T expect the exciting noise when you first start her up, or pull away. The K&N noise only appears when you give it a bit of welly and the engine has to do some work. That is the great thing about it though - if you *want* to, you can drive the car so it doesn't make any extra noise.

However - you won't want to....

Tom,

Am I right in thinking you made/sold some brackets for the pipes and if so, do you have any?

Nick

I use to make brackets but with the later enclosed filter ie ITG there is not such a demand so have stopped making them and have non left (I don't think but can have a look) and currently don't plan in making any more.

Nick,

as your from Hampshire do you mind having a drive of my F at some point - just to see if everything seems ok to you?

Sorry Tom even!

Nick,

There's some additional instructions/pictures in the MGF/TF FAQ concerning the fitment of K&N filters - may be worth a read...
