MG MGF Technical - Wheel alignment?

Some of the MG F have bad front wheel alignment. I have had my car in at a tyre store to have new tires fitted and at the same time correct the tilt of the tires. But they still wear wrong. (the inside is blank while the outside of the tire have about 5 mm left!) Does any one know the right settings?

Hi Rikard,

the 'correct' settings for the toe-angles are:

Front: 0 degrees 10 minutes toe OUT (+/- 6 minutes)
Rear: 0 degrees 10 minutes toe IN (+/- 6 minutes)

To avoid inner edge tyre wear, the BBS recommended settings are:

Front: 0 degrees 5 minutes toe IN (+/- 3 minutes)
Rear: O degrees 10 minutes toe IN (+/- 3 minutes) UNLESS rear tie-bar spacers are fitted, in which case you can go for a more neutral rear toe-angle.

Hope this helps - loads of info on the archive about this - plus info on Dieter's and my site (http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com)

Rob,
did you once count how often you repeated this answer in the last 6 month ?

*g* I think Mike should enhance the BBS MGF technical data webside with this agreed values. Printed Bold Red in a yellow box.

How about it ?
Just a suggesting.

;o)

Hmm, I think you might have something there Dieter. It is in 'FAQ' territory - but perhaps with Paul concentrating on the F/TF FAQ, perhaps there is room for a "reductionist" version that concentrates on a few, limited in number, highly specific subjects?

Tracking would be one.
Another would be tyre choices and sizes.

Any others?

It should carry links to the necessary FAQs/ technical web sites that many have developed and worked hard on.

No doubt, we all have something about tracking.
But not the clear 'that's it'.

I'd see the tracking as principal 'misunderstanding' due to the written technical data. From what I heard of the crazy so called standard values are still in all records and manuals (owners manual as well) until the mgtf appeared. Though the dealers and tyre workshop tracking computers have already the other and 'better' values.

So I think it would be no problem to include the 'yellow box' with red written BBS recommendations also to the local MGF site at http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGF/mgfspec.html

Easy to refer to from here in any way.

I'm sorry for the off topic discussion. Though, a term that employs the regulars here now since 5 years with loads of shouts and misunderstandings. Lets think about it and discuss on a new thread later.
:)

Good idea - perhaps we should chat about this when we all meet up again? :o)
